Canon is currently the market leader in dSLR camera. It is well-known for being a high quality dependable camera maker in both dSLR and point and shoot market. Recently, it has launched the new Canon EOS 60D 18.0 MP dSLR Camera, which is planned to replace the highly popular Canon EOS 50D. Canon EOS 60D is positioned in between the EOS 7D (professional dSLR camera) and EOS 550D (less-professional dSLR camera). Now photo aficionados will have to choose whether or not they would upgrade from their EOS 50D to the new Canon 60D. In order to answer this question, let's compare some of the main distinction between those two (to make it fair, we will see at each superiority over the other).

In favor of Canon 60D
Canon 60D has higher megapixel (18MP vs 15MP). Although both are capable of producing good quality images, EOS 60D will perform generally better in higher ISO. 60D has wireless flash triggering, which is not available in 50D. This feature let you trigger multiple off camera flashes at different output levels. Full HD Video is one of the main differentiator between those two. Canon EOS 60D is currently offered a measly more expensive than the older model Although barely noticeable (except for professional photographers and in certain conditions), EOS 50D has better continuous shooting speed (6.3 fps vs 5.3 fps).Conclusion: Canon EOS 60D is a nice improvement from Canon. If you're looking for your first dSLR camera, you should go for Canon EOS 60D, period. Above all, why would you go for a three-year old camera for your first purchase? It's also quite recommended to upgrade your old EOS 50D to EOS 60D. The main reason is the technology behind it. Although it may still working well at the moment, in a year or so, you would find it completely outdated.
